Maxine Parks, 91, of French Lick, Indiana entered into eternal rest on June 7, 2021, at Springs Valley Meadows, French Lick.

She was born in West Baden Springs on February 18, 1930, to Francis and Ola (Qualkenbush) Knight.

Maxine married Aaron Parks on June 21, 1952, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2009.

Maxine was a 1949 graduate of West Baden High School and Lockyear Business College in Evansville. She also had attended Northwood Institute and received her librarian certificate from Indiana University Southeast.

She was a member of Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church where she held many offices in the United Methodist Women’s Club, Republican Women’s Club, Hoosier Uplands on the Board of Directors, Springs Valley School Board, and Orange County Historical Society.

Maxine was Head Librarian of Melton Public Library for 29 years and retired in 2000. She was instrumental in updating it to a modern library. She and Aaron owned and operated Paw Paw Patch for many years.

She enjoyed church, playing dominoes, growing flowers, watching humming birds, growing and picking blueberries, reading, watching Purdue sports, and especially spending time with family.

Maxine is survived by one son, Mark A. Parks (Janna) of English; four daughters, Sheila Kennedy (Jim) of Newburgh, Lisa Wellman (Bryan) of French Lick, Kelli Garnett Kenosha of Wisconsin, and Erin Parks (Mike Brown) of Evansville; one sister, Faye Hammond (Buddy) of West Baden Springs; brother-in-law, Charlie Morrison of French Lick; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jesse and Ray Knight; one sister, Martha Morrison, and son-in-law, Tommie Garnett.

A Funeral Ceremony will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home with a burial to follow at Patoka Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation for friends will be on Friday, June 11, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Melton Public Library, 8496 W. College Street, French Lick, IN 47432.
