Maurice “Maury” Eckerle, 72

Maurice “Maury” Eckerle, 72, of Greenwood, Indiana and Frostproof, Florida, formerly of Jasper , passed away at 2:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at his home.

He was born in Jasper, Indiana on October 26, 1941 to Linus and Bernadette (Fromme) Eckerle. He married Marilyn Weidenbenner on November 30, 1963 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland.

Maury was a graduate of Jasper High School Class of 1959. He served in the US Air-Force 1959 – 1963. He retired from Ayrshire Land Company in Indianapolis where he worked in the real estate department.

He is a member of the American Legion Post #147 in Jasper, Indiana.

Maury enjoyed golfing, sports, traveling, landscaping and enjoying life to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Scott Eckerle and wife Janet, Greenwood, Ind. and Kevin Eckerle and wife Karyl, Northville, Mich.; four grandchildren; Mitch, Bridget, Benjamin and Noah; sister, Joan Knies and husband Brian, of Jasper; brothers, Dave Eckerle and wife Lou, of Jasper, Gene Eckerle and wife Kathleen, of Jasper, Mike Eckerle and wife Becky, Indianapolis, and Raymie Eckerle and wife Rita, of Jasper.

Funeral services for Maurice Eckerle will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper IN, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, IN. American Legion Post # 147 in Jasper will conduct military graveside rites.

Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to IU Health Hospice or to a favorite charity.
