Maureen Quinn Gregory, 70, formerly Jasper

Maureen Quinn Gregory, 70, who lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Ben Jones of Brookston, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at White County Memorial Hospital in Monticello, Indiana.

She was born on May 26, 1947, to John “Jack” and Mildred (Rodgers) Quinn in Brooklyn, New York. She married Bryan B. Gregory on June 20, 1976, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper, Indiana. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2014.

Maureen earned a bachelor’s degree in education from St. Benedict College in Ferdinand in 1969 and a master’s degree from the IU School of Education. She began her 40-year teaching career at Tenth Street Junior High before moving to Vincennes University Jasper, where she later became a full-time professor of English and Chairman of the Humanities Department. She served a short term as interim dean at VU Jasper before her retirement in 2008. She and Bryan then moved from Jasper to Christmas Lake Village in Santa Claus, Indiana.

She enjoyed golf, cooking, political debate, and collecting all things Christmas. But most of all, she lived for spending time with her dearest friends and family in celebration of even the most ordinary events.

Maureen is preceded in death by both her parents and her husband, Bryan of 38 years.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren; stepson Jason Gregory (Heidi) and Seth of Romney, Ind.; daughter, Kelly Gregory Jones (Benjamin) of Brookston, Ind.; grandsons, Quinn and Jack; and son, Scott Gregory of Fairfax, Cali.; three sisters, Barbra Rastocny (Peter Sr.), Karen Grauer (William) both of Louisville, Ky. and Joanne Quinn of Fishers, Ind.; nieces and nephews.

Maureen’s family invites you to visitation at 9 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Precious Blood Catholic Church, 1385 West 6th Street, Jasper, on Saturday, April 28, 2018. An open house reception following the service will be held at the Bistro on the VUJC campus from 12pm to 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to those who helped to care for Maureen including Joyful Journey Adult Day Center, 600 Lindburg Rd., West Lafayette, IN 47906.
