Marylou Cassidy Uland, 87, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at home.

Marylou was born on August 28, 1927 in Reading, Pennsylvania to James and Margaret (Harner) Cassidy. She married Theodore “Ted” Uland on September 23, 1950, in Terre Haute. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1992.

Marylou earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College and moved to Jasper in 1949 to teach English literature and Spanish at Jasper High School.

She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper and a lifetime member of Tri Kappa. Of Irish decent in a German community, she was fond of displaying the flag of Ireland.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting, fishing, jigsaw and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by three daughters, Peggy Anderson of Okemos, Mich., Sally Werne and husband Stan of Jasper and
Nancy Sneed and companion Geoff Edwards of Woodstock, Ga.; one son, Michael Uland and wife Mary Martha Craig of Centennial, Colo.; one sister, Nancy Nichols and husband John of Terre Haute; one sister-in-law, Dolores “Dee” Cassidy of Jasper; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death besides her husband is one brother James M. Cassidy of Jasper.

Funeral Services for Marylou Cassidy Uland will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, IN.

Friends may call from 9 a.m until the 11 a.m. service time on Monday, April 20, 2015, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper.
