Mary O. Songer, 90, Huntingburg

Mary O. Songer, 90, Huntingburg, passed away at 7:40 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at The Waters of Huntingburg.

She was born July 9, 1925, in Duff to Martin and Olivia (Oeding) Durcholz. She married James L. Songer on November 19, 1960, at Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg.

Mary was a homemaker; member of Salem United Church of Christ. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and watching Indiana University basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball on television.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Songer, who passed away on March 6, 2012; one son, Kurt Songer; one daughter, Kathy Songer; two brothers, Raymond Durcholz and infant Martin Durcholz; and one grandchild.

She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda (Mike) Lish of Jasper, Ginger (Jerry) Lanham of Ft. Myers, Fla. and Sharon Songer of Ft. Wayne; Barbara (Todd) Jochem of Gibsonia, Penn.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mike Songer of Huntingburg and Keith (Michelle) Songer of Huntingburg; two sisters, Maratha Neukam of Loogootee and Geneva Englert of Fishers, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mary Songer will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Mayo Cemetery near Duff.  Pastor Mark West will officiate at the funeral.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
