Mary Martha Miller, 90

Mary Martha Miller, 90, of Jasper passed away at 9:05 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015, in Brookside Village in Jasper.
She was born at Cambridge City, Indiana on April 8, 1924 to Clinton and Mary (Simpkins) Bertsch. She married Dale J. Miller on October 25, 1947 in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Cambridge City, Indiana. He preceded her in death on November 1, 1999.
Mary was a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in education. She taught home economics at S.E. Dubois High School for many years. She also taught at Cambridge City Indiana, Precious Blood School and Tenth Street School in Jasper.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper where she was a greeter, Writer for the Towers and a catechist in SPRED (Special Religious Education). St. Ann’s Society and the Daughters of Isabella. She served as recording secretary for the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) and a 4-H leader for several years.
She enjoyed doing volunteer work, tutoring, sewing and cross word puzzles.
She is survived by four daughters, Carol Miller and husband Bill Apao, Sue Ann Miller, Karen Miller and Husband John Lahr, all of Waterbury Center, Vt. and Teresa Miller and husband Dan Allen of Bloomington; five sons, Mark Miller and wife Jan of Iron Mt., Mich., Mack Miller and wife Margaret of Mariette, Ga., Carl Miller and wife Jacqueline of Dublin, Ohio, Dean Miller and wife Denise of Jasper, and Craig Miller and wife Kimberli of Raleigh, N.C.; eight grandchildren; Sara Miller, Morgan and Michael Miller, Nicholas and Leah Miller, Harrison and Justin Miller, Isaac Miller.; brother, Amos Bertsch, Cambridge City, Ind.
Preceding her in death besides her husband is a daughter Susann Elizabeth Miller; sister, Margaret Day; six brothers, Maynard, Ralph, Arthur, Ray, Arville and Donald Bertsch.
Funeral services for Mary Miller will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Lutheran Cemetery at Pershing, Indiana at 4:00 p.m.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Rosary at 2:45 p.m. by the St. Ann’s Society and the D of I’s at the funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dubois County 4-H Endowment or to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
