Mary Lou McDonald, 79, Huntingburg

Mary Lou McDonald, 79, of Huntingburg, passed away on October 23, 2026, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

She was born on June 28, 1947, to Robert Lee and Edna Louis (Rupp) Kiger. 

Mary Lou was a self-reliant woman who commanded the road as a semi-truck driver and, by the same token, a people person, serving patrons and friends as a bartender. She was a member of Naples American Legion and Marengo American Legion – depending upon where she was residing. 

When she took time to kick back, she enjoyed watching Westerns and Hallmark Channel shows. She spread her loyalties among most of the NCAA Football teams and would cheer for whoever was playing.   

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Paul Kiger; and her sister, Jenalee Fetters.

She is survived by her children, Joseph (Marilyn) Platek of Michigan, Jenny (Tim) Hayes of Jasper; Abby (Amy) Raisor of Huntingburg; five grandchildren, Michael, Chelsea, Julia, Samantha, J.T.; one great-grandson, Carter; and longtime friend, Randy Raisor.

According to Mary Lou’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services conducted.
