Mary L. Kress, 95, of Jasper, passed away at 8:28 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born in Jasper, Indiana on October 25, 1920 to Othmar and Marie (Dupps) Bockelman. She married Otto J. Kress on February 7, 1942 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Mary was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and their St. Ann’s Society. She was a member of the American Legion Post #147 Auxiliary where she served as the past president.

She enjoyed gardening, needlework, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Otto Kress of Jasper; two daughters, Kaye Kress of Jasper and Jane Seidl and husband Ken of Jasper; one daughter-in-law, Aggie Kress of Jasper; two sons, William “Bill” Kress and wife Michelle of Jasper and Mark “Marty” Kress of Jasper; 16 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; one sister, Rose Killian of Jasper.

Preceding her in death were two sons, Joseph and John Kress; two daughters, Marilyn and Barbara Kress; two sisters, Anna Mae Padgett and Betty Fromme; and two great-grandchildren, Kasen Geopfrich and Sawyer Beckman.

Funeral services for Mary L. Kress will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Rosary will be held at 11:45 a.m. by the St. Ann’s Society at the funeral home.

The American Legion Post 147 Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Special Olympics, or to a favorite charity.
