Mary Jane Wagner, 78, of St. Anthony, passed away at 7:47 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville.

She was born in Jasper on March 29, 1939, to Roman and Stella (Henke) Hopf.  She married Richard H. Wagner on August 21, 1958, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2011.

Mary Jane was a homemaker and worked at Kimball Electronics, the Schnitzelbank, and the Bavarian Inn. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish – St. Anthony Catholic Church, the church choir, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Christian Mothers, and St. Anthony Home Economics Club. She was also a recipient of the Bruté and Mother Teresa Awards.

She enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening, and watching sports, especially attending the grandchildren’s sporting events, and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are three daughters, Debbie (Matt) Brockman of Evansville, Sharon (Matt) Meyer of Huntingburg and Lynn (Todd) Schmitt of Schererville, Ind.; one son, Jeff Wagner of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; four sisters, Joan Braunecker of Jasper, Patricia (Gene) Fleck of Huntingburg, Kathy (Dennis) Hassler of Terre Haute and Martha (Dan) Blackburn of Evansville.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are one daughter, Cindy Wagner, one grandson, Jacob Meyer, and one brother, Kenneth Hopf.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Jane Wagner will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Divine Mercy Parish will pray a rosary at 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
