Mary Jane Nash, 85, Moorestown, N.J.

Mary Jane Nash passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024, at the age of 85.

Born in Kalamazoo, Mich., Mary Jane lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her church, and her community.

She grew up in Huntingburg.

Mary Jane’s roots ran deep with a profound appreciation for her family’s history, including their connection to the Uhl Pottery Company, originally based in Evansville, Indiana, in the late 19th century.

She inherited a sense of pride and patriotism from her mother. Mary Jane was proud to be a fourth-generation member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her love for her heritage was a guiding force in her life, inspiring those around her to cherish their own histories.

While in high school, Mary Jane entered the Americanism Essay Contest sponsored by the Legion Auxiliary Post 221 and won third place for her essay on “America is our Heritage.”

While in high school, Mary Jane was known for her baton-twirling skills and was even featured in the “Who’s who in baton twirling” national publication. She was also an assistant instructor at the Butler Twirling School Clinic and taught twirling in Dubois County.

Mary Jane attended Ball State Teachers College, majoring in business education for secondary school teachers and earning a bachelor’s degree in commerce. She taught various subjects at public high schools in Indiana, California and New Jersey.

Mary Jane, an avid bridge player, was known for her sharp mind and competitive spirit. The card table was not just a place for games but a foundation for lifelong friendships that she treasured deeply.

A longtime Medford United Methodist Church member, she lived her beliefs through acts of kindness and unwavering support for her church community.

Mary Jane was predeceased by her beloved husband, the late Master Sergeant Larry A. Nash.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Janell Hibbs (Patrick), Hannah Fiore (Danny), and Jeffrey Culp. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Johanna, Casey, Joseph, Danny, Juniper (Alisia), and Zach, and a great-grandmother to Judas and Ezra. She is also survived by her brother, Louis Uhl Disinger, along with her nieces and nephews, Bill, Bob, and Tina.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Medford United Methodist Church, 2 Hartford Rd, Medford, NJ 08055. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be private.
