Mary Jane Humbarger, 82, Jasper

Mary Jane Humbarger, 82, of Jasper, passed away at 11:02 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. 

Jane was born in Washington, Indiana on June 1, 1937, to Harold and Zelma (Gordon) Gilliatt. She married Kent L. Humbarger on August 31, 1958 in Washington, Indiana. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2012.

Jane graduated from Vincennes University and then the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. She worked in nursing and volunteered with the American Red Cross as a nurse for the blood drives and worked as a nurse for the Dubois County Child Protective Services Team. Jane was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jasper, where she served on various committees. She was a member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority and she enjoyed knitting, crossword and word search books, reading, and crafts. 

She is survived by one daughter, Melissa Jane Humbarger (Nicki Funk) of St. Louis; one son, Shane Kent Humbarger of Kokomo; one grandson and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dr. H. Gordon Gilliatt of St. Louis and John R. Gilliatt (Maryjane) of Mississippi; nieces and nephews.   

Preceding her in death beside her husband were her parents. 

Funeral services for Mary Jane Humbarger will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jasper, with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Washington. Pastor Adam Ruschau will officiate. 

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, and from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. service time at the church on Thursday.
