Mary Elizabeth Borman, 81

Mary Elizabeth Borman, 81, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 5:45 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
She was born October 27, 1932 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Andrew and Henrietta (Schroering) Gasser.
As a child she attended St. Mary’s grade school and then transferred to the Academy Immaculate Conception where she graduated in 1950. After school, she went to work for Huntingburg Wood Products as an office secretary and it was during this time that she met and fell in love with her future husband, Leonard L. “Buck” Borman.
They were married on June 26, 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. They moved to and settled on the family’s homestead farm located on Huntingburg’s rural route #3.
Mary was a mother and homemaker, who excelled as a seamstress and was known for her homemade jellies. She took pride in her job working at Kmart in Jasper and enjoyed genealogy, crafting and singing.
She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir for many years.
Mary was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella and St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew Gasser, Jr. and Ralph Gasser; and two half-brothers, Arthur Gasser and Robert Gasser.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard L. “Buck” Borman of Huntingburg; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Edward Ray (spouse, Carol) Borman of Dunedin, Fla., and Brian LaVern Borman of Huntingburg; two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna Marie (spouse, Garry) Sauley of Greensburg, Ind., and Paula Ann Borman of Chicago, Il.; by four grandchildren, Leonard Ray Borman (and his partner, Tina Burnett and her daughter, McKenzie) of Florida; Christopher Andrew Sauley (and his wife, Laura) of Indianapolis; Erin Michelle Walton (and her husband, Josh) of Shelbyville; and Lauran Nicole Sauley of Fairfield, Ohio; two great grandchildren, Raina Sauley and Hayden Walton.
Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Borman will be held at 10:00 a.m. EDT, on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Huntingburg.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2-7 p.m., EDT, on Friday. A parish rosary will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home, followed by a prayer service conducted by the Daughters of Isabella. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
