Mary C. Schulte, 90, Jasper

Mary C. Schulte, 90, of Jasper, passed away at 8:41 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2019, at Brookside Village in Jasper.

Mary was born in Ferdinand, Indiana, on August 11, 1929, to Jerome “Harry” and Charlotte (Reutman) Gehlhausen. She married Bernard T. Schulte on October 19, 1948, in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand, Indiana. He preceded her in death on December 16, 1990.

She was a homemaker and worked at Decora for over 25 years.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, and the Jasper Outdoor REC.

Mary enjoyed doing puzzles, flowers, and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are five daughters, Kathy (Arnie) Renner of Ireland, Cindy (Paul) Sternberg of Jasper, Brenda (Randy) Nord of Louisville, Bobbie Schulte of Jasper, and Geri (Brian) Bohnert of Schnellville; one son, Mark (Ann) Schulte of Jasper; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosie Vitiello of Jeffersontown, Ky.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are three sisters, Harriet Fischer, Charlotte “Butsy” Kleuh, Eugenia “Dolly” Durcholz, and four brothers, Jerome, Charlie, Herbert, and Eugene Gehlhausen.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary C. Schulte will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2019, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana. St. Joseph’s Parish will pray a rosary at 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
