Mary C. Prechtel, 84

Mary C. Prechtel, age 84, of Jasper, IN passed away at 10:44 p.m. on Saturday (August 10, 2013) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

Mary was born on February 14, 1929 to Fred and Nellie (Gerber) Sermersheim. She married Sylvester G. Prechtel on April 19, 1949. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1990.

She worked at General Electric, Twinfront Restaurant, JJ Newberry Store, and the V.F.W. Post #673 in Jasper.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, and the V.F.W. Post #673 Auxiliary, where she was active in the Membership Committee for years and the Christmas Basket Committee For the Needy.

She enjoyed making afghans and working on word search puzzles.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are three sisters, Lillian Rucker, Lenore Anderson, and Lee Etta Brames, two brothers, Leroy Sermersheim and Louis Sermersheim, one step-sister, Jenny Otto, and three step-brothers, Gilbert, Urban and Ralph Schnell.

Funeral services for Mary C. Prechtel will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday (August 14, 2013) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday (August 13, 2013) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
