Mary Ann Bonifer, 76

Mary Ann Bonifer, 76, of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana.

Mary Ann was born in Jasper, on October 24, 1937 to Leo and Anna Mae (Wehr) Hochgesang. She married Ron Bonifer on December 27, 1969 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.

Mary Ann was a homemaker and member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Jasper Daughters of Isabella, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and she made prayer shawls for Holy Family Catholic Church. She also enjoyed spending time with family and attending their activities.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Bonifer of Jasper; two daughters, Renee Humphrey, and her husband, David, of Evansville and Rachelle Bonifer of Kannapolis, N.C.; one son, Mark Hopf of Charlotte, N.C.; one grandson, Luke Hopf, and his wife Emily, of Winston Salem, N.C.; great grandson, Julian Hopf.

Preceding her in death are three brothers, Hilary, Melvin, and Allen Hochesang.

Funeral services for Mary Ann Bonifer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at the church. The Jasper Daughters of Isabella will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m..

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
