Mary Ann “Annie” Hoppenjans, 78, of Ferdinand, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born June 1, 1939, in Ferdinand to Alois and Henrietta (Durchholz) Oser. She married Donald Hoppenjans on June 10, 1961, in Saint Ferdinand Catholic Church.

Annie retired as a secretary after 35 years for the Southeast Dubois County School Corporation. She was a lifelong member of St. Ferdinand Parish.

She enjoyed bowling, traveling, playing cards, especially weekly card games with her sisters. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in sporting activities. Annie was active in playing softball for many years.

She is survived by her husband Donald Hoppenjans; three daughters, Karen Hughes (Michael) of Lamar and Linda Altmann (Bill) and Beth Rickelman (Benny), both of Ferdinand; grandchildren, Kyle Hughes (Holly), Megan Hughes, Kyla Altmann, Blake Altmann, and Luke Rickelman; great-grandchildren, Claire Hughes, Mya Hughes, and Lainey Hughes; three sisters, Janet Werne (Dennis), Nancy Laake (John) all of Ferdinand, and Elaine Brames (Ernie) of Saint Anthony.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services for Mary Ann “Annie” Hoppenjans will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018, in Christ the King Parish, Saint Ferdinand Church. Burial to follow will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday and from 7:00 to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
