Mary Alice Ruxer, 102, St. Meinrad

Mary Alice Ruxer, 102, of St. Meinrad passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand.

Mary Alice was born to August and Clara (Niehaus) Ringeman on January 16, 1924.

She was united in marriage to Charles “Charlie” Ruxer on November 11, 1944, in St. Meinrad.

Charlie preceded her in death on December 11, 2017.

Mary Alice worked in the family business, Ruxer Furniture and Appliances, for over 60 years. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, and sewing. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. Mary Alice was a faithful and lifelong member of St. Meinrad Catholic Church.

She is survived by her three children, Terry (Sandy) Ruxer of Mission, Texas, Karen (J. D.) Springston of Santa Claus, and Mark (Kathy) Ruxer of St. Meinrad; nine grandchildren, Todd (Angie) Ruxer, Heather (Matt) Sisley, Clint (Kelly) Ruxer, Ashley (Mark Toth) Springston, Brett (Kelly) Ruxer, Janelle (Mike) Brentlinger, Courtney Ruxer, Brooke (Andy) Gray, Shanna (Jesse) Mackinson; 25 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Lee Ringeman of Santa Claus.

Mary Alice was preceded in death by two brothers, Othmar Ringeman and Roman Ringeman, in infancy.

Special thanks are extended to those who lovingly cared for Mary Alice at Scenic Hills at the Monastery, and Heart to Heart Hospice staff for the comfort, dignity, and compassion provided to Mary Alice in her final days. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Meinrad Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 5th at 10:00 AM CDT in St. Meinrad Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 8:00 AM CDT until the time of the Mass
