Marvin L. Bailey, 92

Marvin L. Bailey, 92, of Stendal, Indiana, passed away at 4:35 a.m., on Monday, December 1, 2014, at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
He was born September 18, 1922 in Spurgeon, Indiana, to Alvey and Estella (Shroad) Bailey.
He married Mary Lisetta Sollman on December 4, 1948 at the parsonage of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal.
Marvin was employed for 33 years at Whirlpool Corporation in Evansville where he retired. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal and the VFW Post #2366. He enjoyed gardening, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.
Marvin served as a sergeant in the United States Army infantry during World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and participated in campaigns in Northern France, the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Lisetta Bailey, who passed away July 21, 2011; one sister, Elsie Barrett; and five brothers, Amel, Charles, Hershel, Luther and Floyd Bailey.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law,Bruce Bailey and his wife, Cindy, of Winslow; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda Moesner and her husband, Jay, of Holland; two brothers, Jess Bailey of Oakland City and Paul Bailey of Stendal; one sister, Renelda Erwin of Terre Haute; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Marvin L. Bailey will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal with burial to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Stendal, Indiana. Pastor Ed Wicks will officiate at the service. The V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday; and also at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal one hour prior to the funeral on Thursdaymorning.
