Martha Reitz Steckler, 69, Ferdinand

Martha Reitz Steckler, 69, of St. Henry, passed away peacefully at her home on September 28, 2025, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Born on June 14, 1956, in Evansville, Indiana, to Phil and Carolyn (Steckler) Reitz Jr., Martha was the fifth of seven daughters.

She graduated from Reitz Memorial High School in 1974 and earned an associate degree in business from Indiana State University in 1976.

Martha began her career at Bristol-Myers Squibb (formerly Mead Johnson), where she worked from 1977 to 1996. She then joined Paragon Promotions Inc. as a sales representative, a role she dedicated herself to until her retirement in 2023.

A devout Catholic, Martha was known for her love of travel, her joy of playing Bunco, and her gift for bringing people together through hosting gatherings. Above all this, her greatest passion was serving on Cursillo teams, where she tirelessly helped others grow closer to Christ.

At age 57, Martha was blessed to marry the love of her life, Allen Steckler, on December 27, 2013, with whom she shared her final years.  She cherished the family she gained through their union, including Allen’s five children, two daughters, Gwen (Jeff) Lehmkuhler of Versailles, KY, Sara (Brian) Betz of Schnellville, IN and three sons, Adam (Janessa) Steckler, Nick (Lori) Steckler, Matt (Shanna) Steckler, all of St. Henry; 17 grandchildren, Justin Lehmkuhler, Claire Lehmkuhler, Jack Lehmkuhler, Gabe Steckler, Shelby Steckler, Rafe Steckler, Claude Steckler, Garrett (Addison) Betz, Caden (Ali) Betz, Lydia Betz, Will Steckler, Beau Steckler, Trey Steckler, Jude Steckler, Levi Steckler, Ella Steckler, and Reid Steckler.

Martha is also survived by her beloved sisters, JoAnn Reitz, Kathy Reitz, and Diane (Tom) Stone, all of Evansville; Sarah (Gary) Pickel of Littleton, Colorado; Beth Reitz of Indianapolis; and Chris (Nick) McNeely of Carmel; nieces and nephews, Jason (Marya) Pickel, Brian (Lisa) Pickel, Patrick (Abby) Stone, Lainie (Warren) Givens, and Sarah Stone.

She will be remembered for her deep Catholic faith, her infectious smile, generous heart, and the countless ways she touched the lives of her family, friends, and everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, Gilbert and Mary E. Steckler.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. EST on Monday, October 6, 2025, at St. Henry Catholic Church. Friends may call at the church on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 1 to 7 p.m. EST and on Monday from 8 a.m. EST until the time of services.
