Martha D. Stapleton, 84

Martha D. Stapleton, age 84, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away Friday morning, April 12, 2013 at her home.

She was born July 14, 1928 in Huntingburg, Indiana to William and Laura Posey. She was united in marriage to Raymond Stapleton on July 28, 1945 at the Salem Church Parsonage in Huntingburg. Mrs. Stapleton worked as an OBGYN Nurse’s Aide at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg for 39 years prior to her retirement in 1999. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, the V.F.W. Post #2366 Ladies Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by: one brother, William Posey Jr.; and one sister, Margaret Bretz.

She is survived by:

One son, Gene Stapleton – Thousand Oaks, CA

and two grandchildren,

Holly Raymond – Canal Winchester, OH,

Jana Raasch – Boynton Beach, FL

A memorial service for Martha Stapleton will be held at 1:00 p.m., E.D.T., on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg. Pastor Mark West will officiate. Friends may call for visitation at Salem United Church of Christ from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Thursday, the day of the service.

Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with the arrangements. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: Salem United Church of Christ.
