Marlene Sunderman, 80

Marlene Sunderman, age 80, of Huntingburg, formerly of Velpen, Indiana, passed away Thursday morning, August 29, 2013 at her residence.

She was born May 28, 1933 in Velpen, Indiana to John William and Gertrude (Ward) Hellman. Marlene graduated from Otwell High School in 1951 and was united in marriage to Ben Sunderman on January 12, 1952 in Huntingburg.

She worked at Swift & Company as a turkey grader and enjoyed time spent at home with her husband and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: one brother, Charles William Hellman.

She is survived by her husband, Ben Sunderman of Huntingburg; one niece, Kimberly Marlene Hellman Parks of Velpen, IN; three nephews, Charles “Chuck” (spouse: Sarah) Hellman, Jr. of Jasper, John D. (spouse: Donna) Hellman of Velpen, IN, and Paul Joe (spouse: Michelle) Hellman of Bossier City, LA; and by great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Marlene Sunderman will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Velpen, Indiana.

The Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with the burial arrangements. Friends are invited to meet directly at the cemetery; there will be no public visitation at the funeral home.
