Mark “Rookie” Schneider, 63, Jasper

Mark “Rookie” Schneider, 63, Jasper, passed away at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville.

Mark was born in Jasper on July 9, 1952, to Ralph and Ruth (Basch) Schneider. He married Jan Gerber on September 22, 2015 in Jasper.

Mark retired as the General Manager of the Krempp Lumber Company in Jasper, where he had served for over 42 years.

He was a Jasper High School graduate and a graduate of Indiana University.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, a member and past president of the Dubois County Builders Association, the Jasper Moose, the Jasper Knight of Columbus, and was active with the I.U. Alumni Association.

He enjoyed pheasant hunting, golf, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Schneider of Jasper; daughter, Samantha Schneider of Hampton, Va.; stepdaughters,
Kelly Joas of Jasper and Sarah Joas of Jasper; two step-grandchildren, Wyatt and Waylon Stout of Jasper; sisters;
Jane Krempp and husband Kenneth of Jasper, Phyllis Middleton and husband Bill of Houston, Texas and Sylvia Metzger of Jasper; twin brother, Mike Schneider of Indianapolis.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Funeral services for Mark “Rookie” Schneider will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
