Mark A. Leinenbach, 74, Huntingburg

Mark A. Leinenbach, son of the late Eugene and Dolores (Vonderschmitt) Leinenbach, was born May 2, 1952, in Jasper, Indiana and departed this life October 2, 2026, at Waters Senior Care of Huntingburg, Indiana, at age 74.

On June 1, 1973, he married Joyce Bachman. She preceded him in death on October 15, 2007.

He graduated from Ireland High School in 1970.

He was a United States Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War.

Mark was a lifelong farmer with both crop and cow/calf operations and owned a construction company, building many homes and farm buildings throughout Dubois County.

Mark was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, and the Knights of Columbus.

Mark is survived by his son, Davin Leinenbach (Holly) of Ireland, Ind.; three grandchildren, Julie Kiefer (Sterling), Jennifer Appel (Landon Betz), and Joshua Appel; four great-grandchildren, with a fifth due in March; one sister, Susan Mathies (Gary); three brothers, Allen Leinenbach (Judy), Steve Leinenbach (Kathy), and Dan Leinenbach (Diane).

Preceding him in death, besides his wife, is one brother, John Leinenbach, who passed in infancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mark A. Leinenbach will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rites.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dubois County Humane Society or the Alzheimer’s Association to fund Alzheimer’s research.
