Marie G. Ernst, 96

Marie G. Ernst, 96, of Ferdinand, died Wednesday March 6th at Scenic Hills Care Center, Ferdinand.

She was born October 13, 1916 to Frank & Bertha (Tempel) Heeke in Siberia, In. She married Edwin R. Ernst on April 27,1936 in St. Martin Of Tours Catholic Church in Siberia, In. He died December 29, 2001.

Marie was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish and its St. Anne’s Sodality. She was a member of Ferdinand Senior Citizens. Her hobbies included sewing, making rugs, quilting, and making crafts.

Surviving are three sons, Jim Ernst of Bedford, IN, Don Ernst and his wife Sandy of Indianapolis, and David Ernst and his wife Donna of Jasper with 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Also, one brother, Bernard Heeke of Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by a son Thomas Ernst, and an infant son Joseph Ernst, two brothers, Arnold and Fred Heeke, and five sisters, Helen Hagan, Emma Cunneo, Marietta Flamion, Irene Antill, and Blanche Heun.

The funeral service is at 10am Saturday in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8pm Friday and 7 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
