Margie June Blessinger, 79
Margie June Blessinger, age 79, of Jasper passed away at 3:40 p.m. on April 14, 2014 at her son’s home in Owensboro, Ky.
Margie was born on July 8, 1934 to Alton B. and Inez Marie (Stanley) Cates. She married Hilary Blessinger on April 29, 1982.
Margie received her Bachelor’s Degree from Kentucky Wesylen College in Owensboro, KY. She then received her Master’s Degree in Education from Western Kentucky University.
She worked as a bookkeeper and tax preparer at the former Hilary Blessinger Public Accounting firm for twenty years, and she was previously a Middle School Teacher in Daviess County, Kentucky.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Dubois County Museum, the Dubois County Historical Society, and the Southern Indiana Doll Club. She was also the Treasurer of the 20th Century Literary Club that was established in 1902, and volunteered at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.
She enjoyed collecting dolls and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband, Hilary Blessinger, of Jasper; one daughter, Julie Marie London, of Richmond, Va.; two sons, John Alton London and his wife, Karen, and Jeff K. London, and his wife, Tammy, both of Owensboro, Ky.; two stepdaughters, Laura Blessinger and Anita Lemond, and her husband Kevin, both of Jasper; three stepsons, Frank Blessinger, of Jasper, Mark Blessinger, and his wife Joyce, of Newburgh, and Chris Blessinger, of Jasper; five grandchildren, Jason London, Tabitha London, Krystal London, Haley-Jule London, and John Cates London; two great grandchildren, Layla London and Alton London; four stepgrandchildren, Erica Schmitt, Tyler Schmitt, Evan Lemond, and Lucas Blessinger.
Preceding her in death are her parents.
Funeral services for Margie June Blessinger will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
