Margaret Frances Johnson, 80, New Palestine
Margaret Frances Johnson, 80, of New Palestine and formerly of Columbus, passed from this life Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 1:20 a.m. at her daughter’s home.
Mrs. Johnson was born on November 4, 1942, in Vigo County, Indiana, the daughter of Jewel Everett and Anna Louise Yates Dewees.
On March 19, 1961, in Scotland, Indiana, she married Charles Allen Johnson Jr.
She had been a teacher’s aide at North High School and, above all, was a homemaker. Mrs. Johnson attended the Community Church of Columbus and iTown. Throughout the years, she enjoyed volunteering in various areas, especially at CCC for the Tuesday Night Connections. She was a woman of many traits- enjoying sewing, gardening, and making cakes, to name a few. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and loved attending her grandchildren’s events.
She is survived by her children, Charles “Chuck” Allen (Kim) Johnson III of Jasper and Jewellia Anna (Rick) Stratman of New Palestine; mother, Anna Louise Dewees of Columbus; grandchildren, Amanda (Justin) Richey, Morgan Johnson, Benjamin (Tiffany) Stratman, Elizabeth (Errick) Peck, and Haley Stratman; great grandchildren, Cole, Zoey, Payton, Noah, Gracie, Brantley, Izzy, Moses; grand-pup, Luna; brother, Gary (Brenda) Dewees of Nashville; and a sister, Karen (Gary) Jones of Dubois, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her father; husband, Charles Allen Johnson Jr on June 8, 2014; and her brother, Carl Dewees.
The funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Chaplin Charlie Ketchen officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m. till the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
In memory of Mrs. Johnson, memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to the Wounded Warrior Project.
