Marcella V. “Sally” Schilling, age 85 of Jasper, passed away at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at the Timbers of Jasper.

Sally was born in Siberia, Ind. on June 13, 1928 to Frank and Mary Elizabeth (Brockman) Niehaus.

She married Cletus Schilling on October 15, 1949 in Siberia, Indiana. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1992.

Sally was a homemaker and had previously worked for Swifts, Save-A-Lot, and Northwood Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and its St. Ann’s Society, the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella, the VFW Post #673 Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Post #147 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Bainbridge Homemakers Club.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and volunteering her time making tote-bags for Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Schilling and Tina Pfau and her husband, Bart, all of Jasper; four sons, Larry Schilling and his wife Diane, of Magnolia, Del., Bruce Schilling and his wife Paulette, Mike Schilling and his wife Michelle, and Steve Schilling , all of Jasper; one daughter-in-law, Judy Schilling of Edmond, Okl.; seven grandchildren, Scott Schilling and Karissa Pacione, Cassie, Zach, and Emily Schilling, and Nick and Taylor Pfau; five great-grandchildren, Jaela Alvey, Jairus Schilling, Giada and Kendall Pacione, and Kinslee Schilling; one brother, Alvin Niehaus, of St. Meinrad.

Preceding her in death besides her husband is one son, Dan Schilling; three sisters, Helen Niehaus, Esther Muth, and Marie Mehling; and six brothers, Raymond, Louie, Pete, Arthur, Sylvester, and Amil Niehaus.

Funeral services for Marcella “Sally” Schilling will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Ann’s Society and the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. The VFW Post #673 Ladies Auxiliary with perform a memorial service at 6:00 p.m.
