Marcella V. Haake, 94, Ferdinand

Marcella V. Haake, 94, Ferdinand, passed away Monday Oct. 17, 2016, in Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born in Huntingburg on Aug.  7, 1922, to Leo G. and Catherine (Hoge) Schipp. She married J. Roy Haake on Feb. 8, 1947, in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand. He preceded her in death Oct. 30, 2012.

Mrs. Haake was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of St. Ferdinand Parish, its St. Anne’s Sodality and the St. Ann’s Choir. She was a charter member of Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 Auxiliary. She was a recipient of the Simon Bruté Award. She enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, family and friends.

She is survived by three daughters, Margaret (Tom) Lents of Dubois and Ruth (Patrick) Lueken and Sara (Ron) Kunkel, both of Ferdinand; four sons, Patrick (Donna) Haake and Henry (Lisa) Haake, both of Ferdinand, Max (Terri) Haake of Chandler and John Haake of Jasper; a sister, Dolores Stallings of Rockport; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Haller and an infant, Alma Schipp, and a brother, Lee Roy Schipp.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 7 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
