Marcella (Sally) E. Vaal, 75

Marcella (Sally) E. Vaal, age 75 of Jasper, passed away at 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper, IN.

Sally was born on August 4, 1938 in Jasper, Indiana to William and Philomena (Kapp) Lampert.

She married Jerome “Jerry” Vaal on February 20, 1960 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, IN.

She was a homemaker, a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, The Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, The Senior Citizens of St. Anthony, and Associate Member of the Shepherds of Christ Ministries.

Sally enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, quilting, traveling, cooking, shopping, playing cards, entertaining, making floral arrangements, and going on pilgrimages.

She is survived by her husband, Jerome “Jerry” Vaal, Jasper; five daughters, Sandy Grimme and her husband Joe, of Indianapolis, Beverley Buckley and her husband Mike, of Glendale, AZ, Carmen Shalda and her husband Lou, of Rockford, MI, Lori Smallwood and her husband Mike, of Greenwood, IN, and Kellie Coykendall and her husband Dan, of Middleville, MI; two sisters, Virginia Vaal and her husband Art, and Rosie Werner and her husband Ed, both of Jasper; four brothers, Ambrose Lampert and his wife Nancy, Jasper Romie Lampert and his wife Carol, Linus Lampert and his wife Judy, and Gene Lampert and his wife Cindy, all of Jasper; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death is one sister, Alberta Voegerl, and one brother, Norbert Lampert.

Funeral services for Sally Vaal will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2013, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before services from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church. The Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary will pray the rosary at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be prayed at the Divine Providence Adoration Chapel, located at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2013.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, the Divine Providence Adoration Chapel, or to a favorite charity.
