Marcella G. Weisheit, 89, Jasper

Marcella G. Weisheit, 89, of Jasper, formerly of Haysville, passed away at 7:39 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Serenity Springs Assisted Living in Jasper.

Marcella was born in Martin County, Indiana, on September 17, 1937, to Virgil and Myrtle (Abel) Street.  

She married Lester Weisheit on August 14, 1956, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2013.

She graduated from Loogootee High School in 1955.

She was a homemaker and babysitter.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville.

Marcella enjoyed reading, puzzles, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by five children, Michael (Peggy) Weisheit of Cuzco, Cindy Gehlhausen of Huntingburg, Dwayne (Tracey) Weisheit of Jasper, Darren (Tonya) Weisheit of Jasper, and Kevin (Audrey) Weisheit of Jasper; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren on the way, and one sister, Bernice (Paul) Burress of Marshall, Ill.

Preceding her in death, besides her husband, are one daughter, Sheila Schmitt; one son-in-law, Fred Gehlhausen; four sisters, Norma Lee Daily, Marjorie Divine, Carolyn Fox, and Catherine Roy; and three brothers, Keith and Donald Street and one who died in infancy.

A funeral service for Marcella G. Weisheit will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  Pastor Timothy Holt will officiate.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Saturday.
