Malvin “Ed” Dicus Jr., 67

Malvin “Ed” Dicus Jr., 67, of Haysville, passed away at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.

Ed was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 27, 1948 to Malvin Edward Sr. and Linda (Holding) Dicus. He married Darlene Ruckriegel on May 3, 1975 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville, IN.

Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and also served in the Indiana National Guard. He worked for the Dubois County Solid Waste Department at the Haysville location.

He was a member of the Haysville Volunteer Fire Department and was the Sergeant of Arms for the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association District 18.

Ed played the drums for various bands throughout the years and was an active volunteer in the Cub Scouts of America. He was an avid Jimmy Buffet fan, enjoyed camping, and loved spending time with his grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Dicus of Haysville; one daughter, Amanda Hunter of Haysville; two grandchildren, Tyson and Bryor Hunter; five sisters, Anonia Blessinger of Jasper, Mina Hernandez of Louisville, Jan Loma of Huntingburg, Sarah Kinder and husband Bert of Jasper and Zada Stratman and husband Randy of Dale.

Preceding him in death was one sister, Nancy Layton.

Funeral services for Ed Dicus will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015,at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana with burial to follow in Denbo Cemetery in English, Indiana. Jim LeClere will officiate. The VFW Post #673 will conduct military graveside rites.

Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. The Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association District 18 and the Haysville Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 p.m.
