Mabel W. Bartelt, 92, of Huntingburg, passed away at 4:35 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2016, at Brookside Village in Jasper.

She was born June 10, 1923 in Huntingburg, to George and Anna (Peters) Bartelt.

Mabel was a graduate of Holland High School and Lockyear Business College. After graduation, she worked in Evansville making ammunition and airplane wings during World War II.  She then went to work for the Dubois County Farm Bureau Co-op where she was employed for over 30 years.

Mabel was a lifelong member of Salem United Church of Christ. Her favorite pastime was volunteering at Salem Church and at Shared Abundance. She also enjoyed genealogy and was a devoted Dubois County Bombers fan.

Mable was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Bartelt and Leroy F. Bartelt; and one sister, Evelyn Jackson.She is survived by:

She is survived by her longtime best friend, Janice Castrup of Huntingburg; her sister-in-law and caregiver, Carolyn Bartelt of Huntingburg; three nieces, Terri Bartelt of Huntingburg, Cathryn (Gene) Wagner of Celestine and Gwen (Randy) Adams of California; and one nephew, Thomas Bartelt of Huntingburg.

Funeral services for Mabel Bartelt will be held at 1:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. Pastor Mark West will officiate at the service.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, the day of the funeral.
