Lyra J. Auffart, 74, Jasper
Lyra J. Auffart, 74, of Jasper, passed away at home surrounded by family at 5:28 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Lyra was born in Huntingburg on May 10, 1950, to Clarence and Marie (Jarboe) Bueltel.
She married Joe Auffart in 1972 in St. Henry Catholic Church.
She was a 1968 graduate of Holland High School.
She had an unbelievable work ethic. She worked at various companies and retired from C.E.D. in Jasper.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Lyra enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved giving, repurposing, and donating to her family and local charities.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joe Auffart of Jasper; Jill (Ryan) Cooper of Huntingburg and Adam (Nina) Auffart of Jasper; three grandchildren, Masen Cooper and fiancé, Hannah Schepers, Jaelyn Cooper and companion, Ty McCory, and Lilly Auffart; five sisters, Linda (Stan) Sermersheim, Doris (Chris) Horn, Karen (Louie) Kern, Paula (Kevin) Lamey, Lisa (Ron) Prior; four brothers, Jerry (Lynn) Bueltel, Dave (Georgette) Bueltel, Jeff Bueltel and Carla Lechner, and Brad Bueltel.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Lyra J. Auffart will be held at noon on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana. A burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (service time) at the church on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial contributions may be made to the Dubois County Humane Society, Heart-to-Heart Hospice, or the Lange Fuhs Cancer Center.
