Luke and Jessi named WBDC Country Showdown winner

The husband and wife team, Luke and Jessi of White Creek, Tenn. were announced as the winner of the 36th Annual WBDC Country Showdown Thursday evening.

This event connected to America’s largest country music talent search and radio promotion was held at the Jasper Arts Center. This win marks the completion of the first step in the prestigious national contest.

Luke and Jessi’s combination of musical talent, stage presence, charisma, and musicianship caught the attention of the judges. The Riegle Family Band, of Muncie was first runner-up while Cody Ikerd and The Sidewinders of Southern Indiana was second runner-up. This year’s judges included Leslie Maxwell, Ed Walston, and Kris Lasher.

Luke and Jessi will advance to the Regional Competition of the Country Showdown later this year. Regional winners advance t, exuding talent and energy in the performances and winning more than $100,000 in cash and prizes and the National Title.

The 36th annual WBDC Country Showdown was backed by house band “HAYWIRE” –featuring Dusty Miller, Greg Eaton, Levi Shields, Roy Boyer, and Craig Brown.
