Dr. Lugo joins Memorial Hospital staff

Hector Lugo M.D. is a pathologist recently appointed to the Active Medical Staff at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.

A pathologist is a doctor who specializes in the structural and chemical changes that occur with diseases. A pathologist functions in the laboratory, examining biopsy specimens, and regulating studies performed by hospital laboratories (blood tests, urine tests, etc).

Dr. Lugo received his medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Puerto Rico and completed an Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at Harbor University of California Los Angeles Medical Center. He completed a Surgical Pathology Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and a Cytopathology Fellowship at the University of Southern California-Los Angeles County Medical Center.

Dr. Lugo is Board Certified in anatomic, clinical, and cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology.

Dr. Lugo has done volunteer medical work in Central America and the Caribbean and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, American Board of Pathology, Los Angeles Society of Pathologists, and the College of American Pathologists.
