Lugene Andry, 88
Lugene Andry, 88, of Birdseye, passed away at 2:10 p.m., on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born August 17, 1927 near Birdseye to Everett and Alice (Eckert) Andry. He married Norma E. Cook on May 27, 1948 in Jasper.
Mr. Andry worked in the road construction business and was employed by Olinger Construction Company for 27 years and J.H. Rudolph Asphalt Company where he retired. He was a member of the Fairview General Baptist Church in Taswell and charter member of the Birdseye Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed farming and was an avid coon hunter in his younger years.
Lugene was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Andry, who died September 5, 1995; and two brothers, Clifford Andry and Novie Lee Andry who died in infancy.
He is survived by his wife, Norma E. Andry of Birdseye; one son and daughter-in-law, Donnie (Margie) Andry of Birdseye; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie (Steve) Houchin of Stendal; three grandchildren, Gwen (Scott) Boylan of Indianapolis, Stephen (Lori) Toby of Jasper and Alana (Seth Fauquher) Andry of Birdseye; three great-grandchildren, Samantha Boylan, Kayla Toby and Cody Casper; one great-great-grandchild, Nyla Lee Casper; and by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Lugene Andry will be held at 2:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, September 25, 2015, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Birdseye Cemetery in Birdseye.
The Reverend Albert Madden and Reverend Kim Allen will officiate at the funeral.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday. A vigil service, conducted by members of the Birdseye Volunteer Fire Department will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, at the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Fairview General Baptist Church, the Birdseye Volunteer Fire Department, or the Birdseye Cemetery Association.
