Lucille P. Knies, 88

Lucille P. Knies, age 88, of Jasper, passed away at 06:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014, at her home.
She was born April 2, 1925 at St.Meinrad, Indiana, to Alois and Cecelia (Schum) Becher.
She married Raymond B. Knies October 18, 1949 at St. Meinrad. He preceded her in death November 22, 1968.
Lucille was a homemaker and former President of Cave Quarries and Knies Construction Companies. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and served on the new church building committee from 1976-1979. Her family was the recipient of the Holy Family School Distinguished Family Award for 2009-2010.
She enjoyed quilting, bowling, baking and nature and Jasper High School Sports and band.
She is survived by sons, Joe Knies and spouse, Jeanne, and Jeff Knies and spouse, Paula, both Jasper; daughters, Mona Hoffman and spouse, Bert, Marla Giesler and spouse, Jeff, Dana Welp and spouse, Doug, Jane Balsmeyer and spouse, Mark, Glenda Begle and spouse Rick, all Jasper; son-in-law, Robert Mehringer, of Evansville; 22 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her husband is one daughter, Shelly Mehringer and two sons, Tim and Steve Knies; two brothers, Edmund Becher and Henry Becher; four sisters, Antoinette Busam, Bernadine Wilmes, Estelle Brown and Helen Durcholz.
Funeral services for Lucille Knies will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014, in Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday by the Blessed Virgin Sodality at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dubois County Community Foundation (R.B. and Lucille Knies Family Endowment) or to the Holy Family Catholic School.
