Lucille “Lucy” Schmitt, age 95, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Saturday (October 27, 2012) in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.
She was born at Ireland, Indiana August 8, 1917 to Othmar and Kate (Hopf) Schwenk. Married William F. Schmitt August 27, 1935 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland; He preceded her in death on August 6, 1988.
Lucy Schmitt along with her late husband were real-estate developers and were partners in the operation of an auto agency for 35 years.
Member of the Ireland High School Class of 1935.
She is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church – St. Ann’s Society – Daughters of Isabella – Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Ladies auxiliary to V.F.W. Post # 673.
Her hobbies were; Golf, Cooking, Baking and Gardening.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are one brother, Patrick Schwenk and Three sisters, Henrietta Vollmer, Armella Runner and Marie Faith.
Services for Lucille Schmitt will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 31, with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday (October 30, 2012) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
St. Ann’s and D of I rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
