Loya prevails in Guns & Hoses annual fundraising event
Jasper police officer Martin Loya was announced the winner after three grueling rounds trading punches with Hanson Kentucky fireman Kwinn Davis.
Davis, who has some mixed-martial arts experience, is about three inches taller than Loya forcing the Jasper officer to get up close and personal as the fought in the 12th bout held Saturday night.
Solid blows were landed by both opponents and when the final bell rang, the two embraced in mutual respect before returning to their corners.
Guns & Hoses is an annual event sponsored by 911 Gives Hope, a group organized to raise funds for disabled children. Organizers reported this year’s event was the most well-attended in its history.
