Louis E. Pancake, 80, Velpen

Louis E. Pancake, 80, of Velpen, passed away at 6:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.
He was born February 20, 1937, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Alva and Margaret (Eilert) Pancake; and was united in marriage to Mary E. Wessel on May 17, 1969, in Jeffersonville.
Louis worked as a welder and machinist. He enjoyed tinkering on equipment in his backyard. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Margaret Pancake; his step-mother, Ada Belle Pancake; two daughters, Anita Decker and Lisa Ross; two brothers, Lloyd Pancake and Kenneth Pancake; and his step-sister, Joyce Ann Allgood.
He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Pancake of Velpen; two sons, Doug (Joline) Pancake of Velpen and John (Rose) Pancake of Paoli; three siblings, Marvin Pancake of Velpen, Roger Pancake of Jasper and Mildred Neukam of Dubois; by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Louis Pancake will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Velpen. The V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites. The funeral service will be officiated by Brother Craig Taylor.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, the day of the funeral.
