Lorena (Lora Lou) Eckerle, 85

Lorena (Lora Lou) Eckerle, age 85 of Jasper, passed away at 12:14 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013, at home.

Lora Lou was born in Jasper on February 16, 1928 to Roman and Hattie (Eckert) Renner. She married Leo Eckerle on September 12, 1950 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and the St. Joseph’s St. Ann’s Society, the Jasper VFW Post #673 Auxiliary, the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the German Club.

She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, cooking, and sewing.

She is survived by her husband, Leo Eckerle of Jasper; one son, Duane(Co-op) Eckerle of Jasper; one grandchild, Cassie Mae Eckerle of Farmersburg, IN; one sister, Viola Wehr of Ireland.

Preceding her in death is one daughter – Sheila Eckerle, four sisters – Veronica Bickwermert, Aurelia Mehringer, Sally Stenftenagel , and Selma Merkley, and one brother – Ivo Renner.

Funeral services for Lora Lou Eckerle will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper with entombment to follow at Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Ann’s Society will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m.
