Lonnie “Billy” William Tolbert, 52, Loogootee
Lonnie “Billy” William Tolbert, 52, of Loogootee, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 5:15 a.m. at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh, Indiana.

He was born on December 19, 1969, in Jasper, Indiana, the son of Linda (Denny) Warren and William “Bill” Tolbert, of Loogootee.
He worked at United States Gypsum for over 20 years, starting as a mill worker and later becoming a supervisor. In his younger years, he also worked at Jasper Laminates as a supervisor.
He married Teresa (Smith) Tolbert on May 27, 1989, and she survives.
Lonnie loved rodeo, NASCAR, baseball, and football, with his favorite being the rodeo. He traveled many a mile with his family so both his children could compete at State and National levels. Lonnie worked many sleepless nights to ensure their safety and further their abilities to compete from elementary to high school.
He is survived by his children, Brandon Tolbert and Paige and Crystal Tolbert and Caden, all of Loogootee; his mother, Linda (Denny) Warren of Loogootee; his father, William “Bill” Tolbert and wife, Leah, of Loogootee; his sisters, Carri Cox and George, of Winslow; Jami Bozeman and Jason, of Evansville; his special family, Sandi Bair and Randy, of Dubois; Tammy Smith and Adam, of Canton, Georgia; Krissy Smith, of Loogootee; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alonzo and Clara Denny.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Blake Funeral Home, in Loogootee, with Pastor Caleb Moffatt officiating. Burial will follow in the Truelove Cemetery.
Lonnie was down to earth and never met a stranger. The family requests all visitors come as they are; casual dress is suitable.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Blake Funeral Home, in Loogootee, and again on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial donations can be made to the Indiana High School Rodeo Association in memory of Lonnie.
