Loma Wm. Hartke, 82

Loma Wm. Hartke, age 82, of Huntingburg, passed away at 8:35 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.
He was born July 31, 1931 in Huntingburg, Indiana to Arthur and Fayola (Murray) Hartke.
He married Melba L. Miller in September of 1951 at the Methodist Church in Huntingburg.
After graduating from Purdue University, Loma worked at U.S. Ordinance in Indianapolis for two years before returning to Huntingburg to accept the position of Superintendent of the City of Huntingburg’s Electric and Water Department. He worked for the City of Huntingburg 40 years and upon retirement he volunteered at the Huntingburg Museum for 15 years.
He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and former member of National Power & Light’s board of directors.
In 2011, Loma was honored for his outstanding public service when he was presented with The Key to the City of Huntingburg. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Melba L. Hartke, who passed away on December 18, 2013.
He is survived by two sons and two daughter-in-laws, David (Brenda) Hartke and Jeff (Vicki) Hartke, both of Huntingburg; by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Loma Hartke will be held at 2:00 p.m., EST, on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. Pastor Mark West will officiate at the services.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 3-8 p.m. on Saturday.
