Local woman competing for state title

Ireland native Charlotte Olson will join 62 young women from across the state to compete for more than $40,000 in scholarships at the Miss Indiana competition being held in Zionsville beginning on Sunday, June 11.
The 24-year-old will participate in a week’s worth of events culminating in three nights of preliminary competition on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings with the Miss Indiana Final Competition being held Saturday, June 17th starting at 6:00 p.m.
By the end of the evening, both Miss Indiana and Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen 2017 will be crowned. Tickets are available for the event but it will be webcast on the Miss Indiana website and social media.
Charlotte holds the title of Miss Northwest Territory. She is a graduate of The University of Alabama and Vincennes University with degrees in dance performance, psychology and social work. Her personal platform is “Standing Tall. Standing Together: Eating Disorder Awareness” and her talent is in vocal performance.
“I feel incredibly honored to represent my hometown. Next week I have the opportunity to stand up among 34 other incredible women and proudly display Dubois county,” Charlotte said. “Additionally it’s truly a great feeling to have so much support from the community, from hugs to cards with well wishes, the outpouring of love is remarkable and I will carry it with me through competition.”
Here is a story we did on her.
Victory over eating disorder empowers Ireland woman to create a community
Only the Top 10 contestants and a people’s choice candidate will compete in the finals on Saturday in both contests on Finals Night. Fans, friends and family can help ensure that Charlotte or another contestant secures a spot in the Final Competition by voting for her on the form at the end of the story. Each vote costs a dollar.
“Regardless of what happens, I want to walk away knowing I gave my all,” Charlotte said. “I want to have peace knowing that I showed the judges the true authentic Charlotte while also showing them my passion for service and advocacy through my platform of eating disorder awareness.”
