Local marching bands perform well over weekend

In weekend marching band contests, local marching bands finished strong.

Jasper finished second at Avon High School in Class B behind Northview.  Jasper also picked up best music and best general effect.

Southridge marched in two contests on Saturday. In Class C at Castle High School, Southridge picked up first place with best showings for music, visual, general effect. In Class A at Evansville North, Southridge finished fourth with best showings for visual, general effect and drum major.

Also at Evansville North, the Forest Park marching Rangers were in action and came away with first place in Class 3A with best showings for general effect.

At Floyd Central High School, Northeast Dubois picked up third in Class A, while Springs Valley was second in Class 4A. Springs Valley also took best showings for visual, general effect, auxiliary, and percussion.

Springs Valley also traveled north to Bedford-North Lawrence and finished first in Class D, sweeping the best showings categories of music, visual, general effect, auxiliary and percussion.

Each band continues to work and perfect their programs ahead of the ISSMA competitions coming up in a few weeks.
