Local marching bands move to next stage; semi-state

Gold is the precious metal used to signify the best finishing positions for marching bands during the Indiana State School Music Association competitions.

Gold means you move to the next stage and the three remaining marching bands in Dubois County are all moving to semi-state next week. Northeast Dubois earned a ticket to state last week.

Jasper received a gold rating for their performance at Center Grove High School on Saturday. They will march this weekend in Class B Semi-State competition at Pike High School on the northwest side of Indianapolis at 4:15 p.m.

Meanwhile, in Class D Forest Park, Springs Valley and Southridge all received a gold rating for their performances on Saturday and now move on to semi-state competition at Franklin Central High School. Southridge will march at 2:44 p.m., Forest Park immediately after at 2:57 p.m. and Springs Valley at 4:15 p.m.

The top ten bands with gold ratings at semi-state will march in the finals at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, October 29.
