Living Hope Baptist Church launches Bible reading contest for area students

Living Hope Baptist Church is running a Bible reading contest this fall for young people in Southern Indiana, timed to the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The contest, called “Fall in Love with Jesus,” runs from September 1 to October 31, with a winner announced the following week. One participant will receive $250.

Participants will read a special edition pairing the books of John and Romans with the nation’s founding documents. “If we want the youth of America to learn patriotism, the best place to start is by having them read the founding document of this country, the Bible,” Living Hope Pastor James Young said.

Contestants must live in southern Indiana and be enrolled in school, including college, with one entry allowed per person. Bibles are available for pickup at the church during regular service times or on Mondays from 3 to 5 p.m. during the contest, and can also be delivered to a participant’s residence, depending on staff and volunteer availability. A form in the back of the Bible must be signed and submitted — by mail, in person, or emailed to brotherjamesyoung@gmail.com — to be eligible for the drawing.

Church officials describe the contest as non-denominational, with all questions on the form answered directly in the scripture provided.
