Linus W. Oeding, 85
Linus W. Oeding, age 85, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 10:10 a.m., Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
He was born August 21, 1927 in Ferdinand, Indiana to Paul and Anna Caroline (Moeller) Oeding. He married Marcella Caroline “Sally” Messmer on October 24, 1953 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.
Linus retired after 25 years as a mechanic from Lueger’s Motor Company. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a life-member of the Jasper V.F.W. Post #673. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Linus enjoyed woodworking, gardening and fishing; and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He was preceded in death by: four brothers – Gregory, Ralph, Roman and Bernard Oeding; and two sisters – Cecelia Kerstiens and Rose Kerstiens.

- Marie Gessner – Ferdinand, IN
- Helen Hopf – Huntingburg, IN
by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Linus W. Oeding will be held at 10:00 a.m., (E.S.T.), on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery (Huntingburg). The Jasper V.F.W. Post #673 Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday. A parish rosary prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday afternoon, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Mary’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
