Linda L. Giesler, 82, Jasper
Linda L. Giesler, 82, of Jasper, passed away at 5:36 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019, in the Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon, Indiana.

Linda was born in Jasper on June 18, 1937, to Martin and Louise (Hopf) Vogler. She was the third oldest of a family of 16. She married Carl Giesler, Jr. on October 26, 1957, in Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2011.
Linda was a graduate of Jasper High School and a 1982 graduate of Vincennes University where she received her associate’s degree in nursing. She devoted her life to serving others, first raising five children and assisting her husband at Giesler’s Restaurant, then as a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg and later at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. She enjoyed a 25-year career in nursing until she became the primary caretaker for Carl Jr., who passed in 2011. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland. She enjoyed fishing, walking — especially on the Riverwalk, traveling, birdwatching, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter, Jayne (Tim) Baker of Odon; two sons, Michael Giesler of Jasper, Joseph Giesler andcompanion, Margie Sermersheim, of Jasper, Mark (John Palladino) Giesler of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Jason (Jennifer) Giesler of Bloomington; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; five sisters, Carol (Michael) Schmitt of Ireland, Judy (Tom) Steiner of Carmel, Nancy (Tom) Norton of Chicago, Ill., Kathy Whitten of San Diego, Calif., and Christy (Dave) Harmon of Nashville; four brothers, Ken Vogler of Albuquerque, N.M., Rich (Katie) Vogler of Hawaii, Bill Vogler of Bloomington, and Tony (Kathy) Vogler of Jasper.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are two sisters, Mary Jane and Georgina Vogler, and four brothers, Donnie and Greg Vogler, and two who died in childbirth.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Linda L. Giesler will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, with burial to follow in Shiloh Cemetery, in Jasper.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana. The Memorial Hospital Nursing Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
