Linda Kay (Hovis) Cannon, 75, Petersburg

Linda Kay (Hovis) Cannon, 75, of Petersburg, passed away May 22, 2024, at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Linda was born on June 29, 1948, to Fred and Blanche Hovis and raised in Shoals (Dover Hill area).

She worked at Crane NWSC for over 30 years, where she “built weapons of mass destruction” until retiring in 2000. Some of her favorite hobbies include building hobby houses and coloring.

Linda was a loving mother to Cristal Cannon and Curtis Cannon, and grandmother to Wyatt Cannon. She married her husband, Bill Cannon, on November 28, 1970.

She will be remembered for her outstanding personality and contagious smile. She brought love and joy to anyone she ever met. She will be greatly missed.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Cristal Cannon; son, Curtis Cannon; grandson, Wyatt Cannon; sister, Betty Salmon; her dearest brothers in law, Rick Cannon, Darvin (Sharon) Cannon, and Grant Cannon; and her sister-in-law, Karen Cannon.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Cannon; her parents; and siblings, Leo Hovis, Darlene Eastridge, Jeanie Land, and Marie Cave.

Services for Linda will take place at 1 p.m. EST on Saturday, May 25, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg with visitation from 11 a.m. EST until service time. Pastor Denny Wiscaver will be officiating, and burial will follow at Hamline Chapel Cemetery.
